Letter From The Chairwoman Of The Board

Welcome to the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center, Inc. (MVNHC) I am honored and proud to serve as the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors. Our Health Center, consists of three federally qualified Joint Commission accredited community health centers located in Mt. Vernon, Yonkers and Greenburgh. We serve a diverse multicultural population who all have a common goal – to access and receive excellent medical and dental care at an affordable cost.

Since our humble beginnings in 1973 in a trailer of medical offices in Mount Vernon, with a modest staff of 18, we have expanded to a network of eight sites with Centers in Mount Vernon, Yonkers and Greenburgh, with a full interdisciplinary and ethnically diverse staff of over 350. Services are also provided at two homeless shelters in Westchester and two school-based Health Center’s in Mount Vernon.

As we serve over 56,000 registered patients annually and 127,000 annual encounters, one thing has remained constant - our dedication to live our mission to provide a safe primary care medical home environment to meet the needs of our most vulnerable patient population.

While it is easy to highlight the progress we have made over the past four decades, we are mindful that there is always room for improvement. The dedicated Board of Directors continue to work collaboratively with the administration, staff, patients and community partners. We monitor and assess operational methods to enhance services throughout the Health Center while increasing our public awareness and customer service to meet the ever changing needs of our patients and their families.

In the spirit of hope and commitment to our community, we welcome the opportunity to face future challenges as a united team of caregivers and healthcare providers to position our Centers as Westchester’s premier Community Health Centers.
