Laboratory Services

Clinical and Pathology Laboratory Services

Our clinical and pathology laboratory is accredited by The National Joint Commission.  Our Labroartory staff is directed by Board Certified pathologists.

The Laboratory Services at MVNHC provides high quality testing to patients we serve in addition to providing blood drawing services at our School-Based Health Center sites - Edward William Elemntary School and Mt. Vernon High School. 

Services include but are not limited to:

Hematology: Cell count and cell identification providing complete hematology analysis to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as leukemia, sickle cell anemia and malaria.

Chemistry: (Glucose): For diabetic screening, glucose tolerance to confirm diabetic conditions of patients.

Diagnostic Immunology:

  • Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR)/FTA - Used to diagnose syphilis.
  • Rubella - This test helps to detect the immune status during prenatal stage evaluation.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV): This test is an extremely important test to establish an individual's status of the disease. The HIV OraQuick test is available at our locations. 

Virology (Influenza A & B): Influenza is an acute viral disease that is seasonal in incidence.

Urine Pregnancy Test (HCG):  Pregnancy testing is provided to establish the presence of intra uterine pregnancy.  It is sometimes used in men to evaluate a condition known as gynecomastia and terratona.

Urine Test (Urine Routine):  A urine routine is an analysis of the urine, chemical and microscopic tests on a sample of urine.The tests is used for many screenings proposed, for kidney disease and infection of the urinary tract. Also helps diagnose diseases that produce abnormal breakdown product called metabolites that are passed from the body in the urine.
